Description
Getting There
This sits on a hill over a wet gully. Bushwhack a few hundred yards west southwest from the Anvil Boulders. It is hard to find with leaves up.
Coming from the Anvil boulders, you'll descend a bit into the gully and climb back up the small hill this sits on. If you are off the right a bit, you'll see the old quarry area (picture uploaded), and if you're off to the left you'll hit a big (30' tall by 50' wide) boulder - both are set into the same hillside that Man's Best Friend sits on top of.
Alternately, an easier route is this. Coming from School St/Southern Ave, follow the fire road off Laurel Lane. It will ascend a decent hill and turn as it climbs. As it starts to flatten, it hits a 4-way intersection with a somewhat smaller doubletrack crossing the road. Turn right here, and continue turning right on this main trail. It will shrink until it ends at an old jeep abandoned in the woods. This is the end of the gully. Follow this gully to the south/east approximately. You'll hit an old quarry (picture uploaded), then shortly after, Man's Best Friend will be on the hill the quarry is cut out of. If you hit the huge boulder set into the hillside (picture also uploaded), you have gone a bit too far.
IMO, it's easiest to skip the gully - pass the rotting Jeep to the small rise beyond and follow it South/East until you hit Man's Best Friend in 500 feet or so. The brush isn't as dense on the rise vs. in the gully.
