Mine Wall

Washington > Central-W Casca… > Skykomish Valley > Lonely Planet & Mine…

Description

North facing wall a few miles from No Name Crag. Minimal development so far, but some potential. Quite a bit of good bouldering in the area.

Getting There

Hwy 2 to FS 62. After about 1/2 mile, park on L at a decomissioned logging road with large rocks blocking vehicle access. Hike road 20-30 minutes to hairpin turn with good valley views and a view of the crag to the R. Trail leaves hairpin at some nice boulders, then forks like crazy through a boulderfield. To reach crag, stay higher and further L than you would expect, then loop down and across to the base. Cliff is a 4 minute walk from the hairpin if you can find the way.

[Hide Comment] This place and nearby walls have tons of potential for many unique routes. Should be nice and cool in the summer, making it a nice complement to nearby Index. And with its easy access, it could become quite popular. Jun 4, 2014

[Hide Comment] Here is a video of Jake and I on some Mine boulders! Featuring Bird Bath (v7) which is apparently the best route in the area!

[Hide Comment] There appears to be a bunch of private property/no trespassing signs if you are attempting to go to the bouldering area the way this page recommends/the Skykomish bouldering book recommends. You could struggle up through the clearcut to the rocks if you want but it would be a difficult journey. Sep 10, 2019
