Description Suggest change

As you enter the U-shaped Kara Su Valley, the Yellow Wall defines the right side, and the left side is defined by Asan/Usen, Peak 4810, and Wall of 1000 years of Russian Christianity. The Yellow Wall is the cliff that Tommy and Beth were forced off of by gunfire in 2000 and kidnapped. 4 years later when I went, it seemed heavily guarded by Kyrgyz military and safe.

There are several routes up this wall. The most popular is the Diagonal route (Russian 5b), a left to right diagonal. My party ventured up a route on the left side of the wall, which we were told by a Russian expedition that was there, was a new route. We named it "Everything is Normal", and should prove to be a great warm-up route for the area.

Getting There Suggest change

If you make it to the Kara Su Valley, you will be able to see the Yellow Wall just after exiting basecamp. Nothing complicated about the approach, you may have to cross the glacial river, but hike straight to it. Maybe a 1 hour hike from basecamp.
