Caliche (Ciales) Rock Climbing

Caliche is a beautiful climbing area in a vast valley filled with limestone in the town of Ciales in the north of Puerto Rico. This crag has been one of the island gems since the 1990s, with more than 50 sport lines between 5.7 and 5.13d. The short and clearly marked trail is easy to find, but there's not a lot of parking space.

This is an afternoon crag due to the sun angle. If you'd like to start climbing earlier in the day, check out the few parts of the wall that face north: 1) "Blanca Nieves" and the handful of routes to the right of it, and 2) the end of the crag with the three routes "La Ira de Dios", "Desconocida", and "Joni, Cori, Dori".
