Description
High quality rock in some of Iowa's best scenery. Located high on the bluff side, this crag can be difficult to approach if the soil is wet.
Getting There
From the path that curves around Chimney Rock you can walk until the it begins to turn left approaching the Maquoketa River. You will not see the river so much as you may notice the lack of trees where it is, and in summer may hear the sounds of people enjoying a float in the cool water.
As the trail veers left to go down river, you can look to the right and follow a game trail through the meadow and look for a place to cross Jurdan creek. Once across the creek you will find another wall, and you follow this towards the river.
A notable landmark is the natural arch, an opening in a rock face to the left of Mother Wall. From here you go about 200 yards towards the river. This is a steep hillside and the trail is at times right along Jurdan creek.
