Description
This is a West-facing, smooth, low-angled slab of really hard rock (the same kind as Techno, Shangri-La, Light Line, etc). This little slab is at the downstream end of the Ruby Cliffs. It has a short approach to technical edgy slab climbing. No forearms are required. Three pitches share one common anchor. Top rope aficionados like myself can easily hike around to set up for the brownpoint attempt.
Getting There
From downtown Ouray, drive south 3.5 miles on US Hwy 550. The road gets narrow and exposed at the Ruby Cliffs. Park right at the 25 mph sign. Walk back down the road 20 yards and scramble up a purple rock dike with a X-mas tree. Avoid knocking down loose rocks on Mercedes driving by. Walk 4 minutes past a nice-looking boulder to the diamond-shaped slab just above.
