Description
This page is for the various routes below Highway 41 on the outside of the Wawona Tunnel. For routes at the west end of the tunnel, see the existing page Wawona Tunnel West.
Getting There
Overdrive (11a) is approached from the Discovery View/Inspiration Point parking area at the east end of the tunnel. After a short walk along the rim, rappels are made to reach the start of the climb.
Pump Dummy (5.11c/d) is also approached from the Discovery View parking, but one walks into the tunnel for several hundred feet before exiting the eastern ventilation shaft. From here scrambling leads west and down to the base of the route.
For the Blow Hole, a good warm-weather sport crag, park at the west end of the tunnel and walk back into the tunnel. Exit the western ventilation shaft. A couple 5.10's are directly above the shaft, and there are some more climbs off to the left (east) which require a short approach pitch traverse to a bolted anchor.
