Description
West Sawtooth Canyon is located on the Southwest side of the House Range west of Delta. Dominating the upper limits of the canyon is the massive Notch Peak cirque with it's banded layers of limestone and dolomite. At the lower flanks of the canyon is a large amount of granite of similar quality to LCC of the Wasatch Front. There's everything from single pitch bolted climbs to multi-pitch climbs that top out the canyon's domes. For more info refer to James Garrett's excellent guidebook to Utah's West Desert.
Getting There
Follow Hwy 50/6 west out of Delta, after passing the south flank of the range and the turn-off for Ibex, take a right on the Notch Peak Loop rd. Follow this graded dirt road until the canyon comes into view and a right turn at a gravel pit leads toward it. The road gets rather rough towards the end but with careful driving a passenger car can make it pretty close.
