Description Suggest change

Past the Passo Falzarego, downhill to the northwest from Passo Val Parola, lies this beauty of a crag: Sass Dlacia.

The steep, 100 meter high yellow and black wall is hard to miss as one winds down the switchbacks towards the Armentarola plains.

With shade trees at the base, a nice picnic area, camping, a couple options for a cooked meal, this is a nice destination or a quick stop for a pump on steep, solid limestone. The main rock face is west facing.

Over 200 routes, mostly single, 15 to 35m pitches with some options for double roped teams to six pitches.

Grades range from facile, 5b to 8a+ with most routes in the 6 and 7 grade. 6 sectors from a to f with most of the action at Settore A.

Camping available at Camping Sass Dlacia.

Food/beverage options with possibility for pizza in the campsite, Bar Sarè, and the visually beautiful Capanna Alpina.

Some nice hiking trails start here too and the views up into the surrounding mountain terrain are great.

Standard climbing season is May through October.

Getting There Suggest change

Located up the 48 around 26km from Cortina. Go past the Falzarego Pass, and continue towards Stern over the Valparola Pass for a few kilometers. At the end of the switchbacks before the road levels out, look to the right (east) and note the large yellow and black wall looming near the road. That’s it!

To reach most of the climbing, drive towards the bridge across the Rio Sarè and either park prior to the bridge or after it just outside the camping area. Could also continue towards the Capanna Alpina and park outside there as well.

Take the trail passing through the picnic site and in 10 or 20 minutes reach the rock face of your desire.

Another optional approach is a trail from a small parking area located just a klick after the Val Badia provence border, prior to three hairpin turns. Also a parking spot or two in between the lower double hairpin.
