Description Suggest change

Timna park is located in the Negev desert in southern Israel around 30 minutes north of the resort town of Eilat. The rock here is sandstone and most routes are bolted, with a couple of trad routes for good measure, located in two distinct areas. There are also some nice looking boulder problems. Currently there is only one guidebook available for free online, but it is in Hebrew, and is too big for google to translate it all at once - learn the local language or make friends! It's the desert so expect hot days, and avoid midday in the summer. There is decent shade in some areas throughout the day. As requested by Israel Climbers Club, do not bolt new routes without prior permission.

Getting There Suggest change

Take Route 90 north from Eilat (or south from the northern part of the country). There is a clearly marked turn off with Egyptian figures. The entrance fee is currently 48 NIS per person. Follow the signs to Solomon's Pillars.
