North Wales Coast Limestone Rock Climbing

The most famous limestone crags on the North Wales coast are the sea cliffs of The Great Orme and Little Orme at Llandudno. Here, many hard and cutting edge sport climbs vie for attention in an atmospheric seaside setting. The Diamond at the Little Orme is strictly hard core endurance. In contrast, on the A55 expressway corridor, there are another 20 accessible sport crags with grades across the entire range. The most significant of these are Penmaen Head, Castle Inn and Llanddulas Cave which is home to a number of very hard routes across the roof of the big cave as well as another 75 climbs to go at. Also traditionally included in the N. Wales limestone area are the crags and quarries west of the town of Conwy on the A55 corridor. These are composed of micro granodiorite, a very hard rock that offers many quality routes which tend to be technical.
