Description Suggest change

There are well over 1000 problems with a ton of room for development. The rock is volcanic so it can be quite abrasive at times but yields many different and unique types of holds. The climbs can be anywhere from tic-tacky slabs to steep dynamic highballs and everywhere in between. Many of the taller problems have bolts for top ropes. You can climb any day of the year at Oak Flats. Summers can be hot, but in the shade with a breeze it's not to bad.

Getting There Suggest change

It's about an hour east of Phoenix on the 60. Drive through Superior, up the canyon and through the tunnel. Once you get to the top of the canyon look for a sign for Oak Flats campground and Magma Mine rd and turn right. Take your first left onto a dirt road. The road isn't to bad but it can get a little rough so be careful. Continue on this road to the top of the hill and take the right fork. Follow the winding road to another road and take a left. Look for a road to the right when you get to a wash with trees (there a hump you drive over). From here the road gets rough. There is parking here (don't block the road) if you don't want to continue or keep going to the main parking and the Warm-up Boulders.
