Upper Jungle

Utah > S Central Utah > Jungle, on the Aquari…

Description

This is sharply-broken volcanic rock (an Osiris Welded Tuff) forming the two bands of cliffs (east and west facing). Look for a large scree field(and then drive a 1/4 mi. more) passing the Lower Jungle parking and up to the next hair pin. There are numerous long cracks and face climbs.

Getting There

From Pine Lake, continue on road (132) for 5.9 miles until Powell Point jeep trail on right(143),GO PAST THIS ROAD and set odometer again and travel 1.9 miles past Powell Point jeep trail and PAST THE UPPER JUNGLE SCREE FIELD (looks like a single-car pullout on a hairpin turn). Just a bit up the road look for a parking area on right (The Lower Jungle), and continue around the corner up the road 100 meters to the "Upper Jungle" (well marked). Short approach DOWN to the crag marked by cairns all along the way.

[Hide Comment] Tried checking this out today but had to turn my Sprinter around because the clay road was slick from snowmelt. I'd guess it's doble with a 2 wheel drive in summer? This is probably obvious to locals but thought I'd post here for any other out of towners. May 6, 2018

[Hide Comment] Message Roy Suggett for up to the minute info, he lives near by. He mentioned that he thought it was going to have an early start this year but I would wait till June to be on the safe side.
Usually no problem with a 2 wheel drive, though nice to have some clearance in a few spots. May 7, 2018
