The Trestles Rock Climbing

The Trestles are three old train trestles which used to have a train running over them before a fire destroyed the tracks in the early to mid 1900s. They tore the tracks down and rebuilt them nearby. Years later, somebody enthusiastic about climbing came by and bought the land that the trestles sit on and opened them to climbing. There are three trestles, all of which are bolted. If you're dying to get outside but don't have the money or motivation to go someplace good, this is a good place to go to help build the motivation to save your money and go some place better. This area is also good for getting comfortable leading outside since it's low-angle, easy clips. However, there is sometimes a good distance between clips (about 10 ft.), meaning you may need have a good head about you. The climbs are on sandstone blocks cut relatively square and stacked together with mortar at about an 80 degree angle. The top ~10ft. are red bricks. Due to the nature of their intension (bridge supports), they are of different hights as you go from the road to the river. Watch for ticks in this area. Depending on the season, you may also get to see some very interesting species of arachnid who make this their home.
