Description
Deep Creek Narrows is a great little climbing area right outside the town of Running Springs. A short approach (and easy access if you know how to find the trail) makes this a nice easy morning or afternoon outing, but also makes it an easy spot to get to and litter, which seems to be a popular activity.
There are a number of developed routes in Deep Creek Narrows, most pretty short, but some are 50 feet or more. The rock is a good fine-grained granite that is smooth in places, slightly grainy in other, and generally easy on the hands.
Brad Singer's guidebook divides the Narrows into a number of smaller subdivisions, including the West, North, Southeast, East, and Lower East faces, and Dan Block.
This area is part of the Deep Creek Preserve, and that, along with area ethic, dictates a no bolting policy that you need to respect, and please take some trash (including all of your own) out with you. This is an idyllic location, or it could be...
