Description
Just east of Indian Cove, up in the hill, is the 49 Palms Oasis Area, which has it's own entrance road and parking lot. This area has always been a favorite among hikers and sight seers, but not known for being a place to go rock climbing. The hike to the Oasis is awesome, and climbs up out of the valley below through some wonderful hillsides covered in beautiful red barrel cacti, and great views of the desert below. Once at the oasis, there is a water source and Palm Trees, and all the wonderful plant and animal life that are found where there is water in the desert. There has been no published information about climbs in this area, even though there are maybe a dozen or so climbs.
Getting There
From 29 Palms , head west on the main highway until you see the Vet Office on the left (before you get to Indian Cove). Turn here, and drive up the road for a mile or so until you get to the parking lot for the hike to the 49 Palms Oasis. Here is where you park to get to the climbs in this area.
