Description
Waimea Bay offers bouldering in a beautiful beach setting. Most come to the area to relax on the beach, Jump "da big rock", surf the waves, or hike the short nature trails up to Waimea Falls. The rock is hard, and offers a diversity of holds and climbing styles, which range from V0 to V7. Generally speaking, climbers do not require a crash pad as the beach sand provides sufficient protection. However, at times the sand might be low requiring climbers to use pads. Also, always check the landing below you before getting on the problem to ensure there are no hidden rocks in the sand or other objects.
Getting There
Located off of 83, North Shore O'ahu. Nearest major town: Haleiwa. Once parked and facing the ocean, walk left (SW) across the beach about 100 meters. Parking can be difficult to find on the weekend and state holidays, so expect to spend some time looking for it if visiting on one of these days.
