Description

A popular "off the route" trip from the West Buttress of Denali and can be done easily in a day from the 9,700ft or 11,200ft camp. Views from the top include Denali's West Buttress, Foraker's Sultana Ridge, Mt. Crosson, Mt. Hunter's North Buttress and more.

Getting There

Air Taxi from Talkeetna. Or for the very adventurous, two hike-in approaches exist.

From the South: Petersville Road, up and over the Peters Hills, up Wildhorse canyon, up and over Wildhorse Pass, up the Granite Glacier, up Exit Pass to the Pika Glacier. Down the Pika Glacier to the Kahiltna Glacier.

From the North: Bus to Wonder Lake, hike to McGonagall Pass, up the Muldrow Glacier to Gunsight Pass, up the Peters Glacier and around the great icefall.

Each of these options could take from 4-7 days.
