Description Suggest change

This area is "a beautiful canyon" (Paul Ross) off of state highway 191 immediately southeast of Wilson arch. The area is very peaceful, pristine, full of slickrock and playful rock formations. Five Entrada sandstone towers can be found here. Mid height vehicles can make it back here. (ie- Forester = no problem)

Getting There Suggest change

Two entrances to the Canyon exist.

1. This access is best for approaching Tranquility Tower and Queen's View Tower.

Immediately south of the Wilson arch rest/view area is a turn off between mile markers 99 and 100. Turn east onto this gravel road. As some buildings come into view ahead, there will be a gate to your right. Again, turn east (right) through this gate, please close it, and continue on this road until it dead ends at a large parking lot. A "road" does continue but park here. To reach Tranquility Tower, the largest tower to the north, follow this road which will turn into a path.

2. This access gets you closest to Moby Dick (Head and Tail) and both King Arthurs Throne and the Stool.

1.5 miles South on HW 191 from the turnoff described above is a gate in the fence-line on the East side of HW 191. Go through this gate and head North on a good dirt road. The road will cross an arroyo and then a slick rock bench within the first mile and require some 4 wheeling. After the slick rock the road heads northeast into Joe Wilson Canyon on the east of the large wash that splits the canyon. Continue into the canyon and you can make it all the way to Moby Dick relatively easily. Continue past for King Arthur.
