Description
The wall is north of The Watchtower and south of The Anvil. The extent of the wall is best described in the "Getting There" section; see the second rap option which descends The Watchtower. Along the base of Wildflower Wall, you'll feel like you're deep within the heart of the Sandia Mountains with rugged rock walls jutting up all around you.
Getting There
Approach as for the Watchtower, then choose between two raps:
* Rap Sister Moon. From about 100 ft short of the top of the Watchtower scramble down to the northwest to a fixed line leading down exposed ledges to the top anchor. The route can be rappelled with a single 70m rope (you'll need every inch of a 70). This is the new rappel route into the Wildflower area.
* Alternately, rappel the Watchtower and hike over. (Watchtower rappel details are posted on that page.) Then hike north on foot while losing some elevation to find Wildflower Wall. The base of Wildflower Wall is at hand after hiking north around the bottom of a large pinnacle that is maybe 150 feet tall. Continue hiking north to reach the climbs on Wildflower Wall. These are a little over 100 total yards from the base of the Watchtower rappel and occur near a relatively level aspen stand where further travel north means hiking up hill.
