Access Issue: NO DRONES ON NATIONAL PARKLANDS Details

All of the crags within the New River Gorge proper are on national parklands, and drone use is prohibited here. There has been some discussion about places to launch drones that are not on park property, and then flying them over the gorge. This is super poor form; don't do it. Park regulations prohibit all drone use over the boundaries without a permit.

Description

This is a great shady wall that gives you more options if Butcher's Branch is too crowded. The trifecta of Dining at the Altar, Shang, and Pettifogger (each put up by a different NRG heavy-hitter FA) are excellent 5.12s that stay dry in the rain. Farther left and around the corner, check out Thunderstruck (5.12b), Almost Heaven (5.10), and The Shining for one of Kaymoor's best 5.11 cracks.

Getting There

Hike as if approaching Butcher's Branch. After the trail has picked its way down through the broken rock bands, keep an eye out for a faint trail cutting back to climber's left (your right if hiking down the approach trail). It's not much of a trail, but after a couple minutes of picking through boulders and bushes, you'll see the impressive overhang of main White Wall. Total approach time is 10-15 minutes from the parking lot.
