Description Suggest change

This cool, short tower sits on the South side of the La Luz trail, just above The Fin. So-named for its uncanny resemblance to the famed actor, this route is a must do for all Sandia climbers. A great way to finish off the day after climbing The Thumb, Yataghan, or any of the other big-ticket items in the area.

ALERT: As of September 2025, there is a bolted rappel anchor for descending off the Donald Duck formation. It's located on the ledge near the aspen tree. You rappel to the climber's left side of the formation.

Getting There Suggest change

Hike down the La Luz trail from the Crest. 50 feet after passing the Fin ascend the talus on the South side of the canyon for ~100 feet. Enter the trees to the west and bushwhack for 50 feet to the base of the spire. Approach time is around 30 minutes.
