ALL SEASONAL CLIMBING CLOSURES FOR CLIMBING AND SLACKLINING WILL BE LIFTED ON FRIDAY, JULY 7TH THIS WEEK.
THANKS, EVERYONE FOR YOUR HELP IN OBSERVING RESTRICTIONS DURING THE NESTING SEASON!
There are many seasonal raptor closures with varying dates and specific boundaries. These generally effect The Monument, Kiss of the Lepers, Picnic Lunch Wall and/or Smith Rock group, and possibly elsewhere. These usually run from February to the beginning of August, but each closure is usually shorter than this, and is dependent on the birds' behavior. Getting There
Hike up burma road and take the climber's trail at the switchback. Branch right, walking uphill across the slope toward Brogan Spire, then up to the notch between Brogan and the Marsupial Wall. Locate a faint trail traversing directly across the hillside toward the top of Koala Rock, then up to the base of the Wombat. Takes about an hour.
The descent trails on either side of Koala Rock are very eroded and should be avoided going up on the approach. Climbing Round River or Thin Air on Koala would also make for a nice approach diversion.
