This area is new for Mountain Project, and is just getting started. Feel free to contribute!

Warning : stainless-steel bolts are suspect near the coast. There is extensive rebolting being done to replace suspect bolts with titanium glue-ins.

Escher Wall has a few different sectors. The main wall has a handfull of easy climbs that have all been re-bolted with Titanium, making this a great place for beginners.

A huge cave with a steep wall to its right and another smaller cave to the right of that. Lots of sun exposure. Apparently you can walk thru a cave and rappel to the Thaiwand wall; bring a headlamp if you plan to do that.

Inspect bolts carefully. If the are not Titanium, they are probably bad.

Getting There

Walk to the far end of the Beach toward Railay West (away from the resort). Skirt around the boulder at the end to your right, and look for jungle trails that go up.

Not the best crag I've been to and can't quite recommend unless you've run out of things to climb in Railay.

Polished, slippery, and most importantly - the majority of the anchors have been chopped as ordered by National Park due to a climbing accident a few years back. (makes a lot of sense /s). If you're gonna climb here, make sure you know how to rappel.

The touristy rappel/approach through the Thaiwand wall is nice, however. Make sure to bring a headlamp Oct 25, 2020

[Hide Comment] Visited on Jan 15, 2023 and I would echo Tao’s comments below. There are still no anchors on most routes so you’ll have to rappel the routes. Most of the routes were in the sun till 1pm or later and boiling hot. Also, just not a very inspiring place to hang out. Didn’t see any other climbers while we were there in high season and good weather. Jan 15, 2023
