Description
The Grand Wash is a notorious gorge that cuts its way through the upper portion of the Capitol Reef National Park. The wash connects the Scenic Road as it heads south past Cassidy Arch, to Highway 24 just east of Spring Canyon. The wash is rather flat and travel here is relatively tame.
Climbers can hike out and back from the trailhead or work their way back from Scenic Road. Currently there is only this established wall listed, but plenty of opportunity exists. In addition, there are a number of undocumented routes along the Grand Wash. Get fired up and see what you can find!
Location
The Grand Wash is located southeast of Fruita. From the town of Fruita, drive along the Freemont River on Utah State Road 24 until you reach the Grand Wash TH proper. To reach the climbing, its recommended you travel southeast out of Fruita on Scenic Drive until you reach Grand Wash Road. Crags and boulders can be found along this swath with in a 1/4 mile of the trailhead.
