So I'm planning on spending the next couple of months in the valley. My brother lives in Palo Alto so I figured I'd get to sleep in a bed a couple nights a week. On the Yosemite nps website it says you can only stay in the valley for seven nights. They mean consecutively right?

During the peak summer season, I think it's 7 consecutive days and 14 days total, but it might be 7 days total now.

Seven nights total from May 1st to Sept 15th in the Valley. Leaving and returning doesn't reset the stay limit. The NPS hasn't advanced to the computer age yet, I think they're still using an alphabetized card catalogue or some shit to keep track of it. Sometimes they won't notice that they already have a card for you when you come back to register, so you can get extra nights, but don't count on it.

Wait are you suggesting the NPS , a government entity , is poorly ran, disorganized , and staffed by dimwits .... ?

There is a 30-night camping limit within Yosemite National Park in a calendar year; however, May 1 - September 15, the camping limit in Yosemite is 14 nights, and only seven of those nights can be in Yosemite Valley or Wawona.
Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
