Cooper's Knob

Description 

This is the tallest looking "hill-peak" about 1 mile northeast of Lower Blair (Sherman Mtns?). Standing on the Spectreman slab looking straight out east, this hill-peak will be at your 10:00 roughly. It is tree covered with a distinctive out-cropping of rock at its summit. While the formation didn't offer much, I found a couple gems and didn't even circle the entire peak. Cooper's is out there and doesn't have a trail to the top, yet it offers seclusion, killer views, and some of the rock is prime. Some of the rock almost seems alpine. It can be cooler and breezier than the valley below, so keep that in mind.

Getting There 

I parked at Lower Blair and embarked on the northmost trail from the fence/gate. This is the trail that takes you past Pretty Girls with Long Knives. Stick to this trail which winds its way through a grassy field then bends north. You can see Upper Blair on your left as you hike towards Cooper's up, in front of you, and a little off to the right. The trail eventually comes to a fence bolstered by limestone blocks. Haven't heard of any access issues. On the other side of the fence the trail is a road. Continue on this which should still be taking you north. The road passes Cooper's Knob on its left, so when you're ready break trail right. You'll drop down in an aspen-filled gully and then up the southern flank on this hill-peak. Get to the top and explore.
