Welcome 

Whether you're looking for rock, ice, alpine or all of it you'll find it in Wyoming. Wyoming is new to MountainProject so come back and visit often as the area grows. If your favorite area is missing how about adding it?

Devil's Tower
Classic crack climbs including the Durrance route which is one of the 50 classic climbs in North America. A 4-6 pitch route that tops out at the summit. A great introduction to climbing at the tower, but start up early to avoid crowds and afternoon thunderstorms particularly during spring and summer. Fall is the most settled time of year. Once you have tagged the summit you can pick the first couple of pitches on a route to get the best bang for your buck.

Grand Teton National Park
Some of the best alpine climbing in the country together with good cragging and multipitch climbing such as in Cascade Canyon. The Tetons are the only mountain range that reminds me of the mountains back home in New Zealand.

South Fork, Cody
100m-plus ice climbing with an alpine feel.

Vedauwoo
If you can climb wide cracks, then Vedauwoo is Fat crack heaven. For the rest of us it's a place to be humble! The Nautilus is probably the standout area with a great variety of routes. Don't be swayed by all the wide-crack talk; Vedauwoo also has lots of "normal" cracks as well. Tape is pretty essential here, so stock up before a visit.

The most popular sport climbing area in Wyoming. Great limestone pocket pulling!

Dusk In Dogtown 5.10c  WY : Devil's Tower : South and East Faces

Location: Take the south face approach to the base of Soler, continue traversing discontinuous ledges, past some rappel anchors, until below the window (series of overhanging roofs). The climb is located just left of the overhangs in a right facing dihedral. The crack has a V-shaped pod approximately 30' off the starting ledge. Coming to Jackson area of Wyoming for a month or so. I have climbed in the Tetons but I am looking for an easy area with a flat base at the bottom, short approach to bring my wife and 2 year old son climbing. Any suggestions?

I will be flying into Jackson hole with a friend July 4-13 planning to backpack and explore the area. We plan on a few days in the tetons, a few in the wind river range. We are hoping to not have to rent a car but will need a place to store some gear as well as a ride if we dont have to rent a car. Any insight in the area would be most helpful. Thanks!
