Description Suggest change

The 'Woz' is not a cragging location. It is a wilderness experience with rock climbing available. If you have the time, make at least a three day trip out of it but be sure to check the weather forecast. The Woz valley experience is magical in any weather, but it is a playground when the sun is shining

Bill Mckenna has been climbing at the Woz since the late 90's. It's safe to assume he's climbed pretty much any trad-line longer than 50 feet and easier than 5.11. When he bolted the 'Womb', and told 'the Kilcher boys' about it, new sport lines began popping up.

Wind blows off the glacier on warm days, keeping you cool all summer long. When the wind isn't blowing the bugs are usually somewhere between horrible and deadly.

Drop by HoWLAlaska.org headquarters for more information.

Getting There Suggest change

A float plane is the easiest (preferred by locals) way in (approximately $200/person round-trip). Floating out the Woz River is doable but can be gnarly (find someone at HoWLAlaska.org headquarters for details).
