NE of 29 Palms there is a large open valley. The road to Amboy heads east through Wonder Valley. When the road makes a 90 degree turn to the North, there is a rocky hillside to the left; it's more like a mountain. When you crest the hill, just before you head down to the dry lake beds of Amboy, there are some climbing rock formations off to the left. One of them ( The name escapes me..) has a bolted rock climb on it. The climb has maybe 7 bolts, and it worth a quick visit if you are on the backroad to Vegas from Joshua Tree , and need to stretch out your legs on a rock climb. Walk off the back.
Getting There
Drive east out of 29 Palms on the Amboy Rd. for about 30 miles. When the road makes a 90 degreee turn north and heads up a hill, at the top of the hill , you will see rock formations with climbable rock, quite near the road. You can drive on dirt roads closer to this formation, and make a short 5-10 min. hike to the climb.
