DescriptionSimilar in appearance and size to its counterpart on the East Bluff (The East Rampart area), the West Rampart area is the obvious cliff band along the top of the West Bluff. The area contains the longest climbs on the West Bluff (Lost Face), and is much less crowded than other spots in spite of the quality routes found here. Formations included in the area are Prospect Point, Big Toe, Great Chimney, Lost Face, Reclining Tower, Dead Tree Wall, and Cave Rocks. Getting ThereTo access the West Rampart, hike along the West Bluff trail starting from either the north or south end of the West Bluff. The West Bluff Trail skirts the top of the West Rampart cliff. Another access route is to park on the South Shore Road north of Ski Hi Rd. There is a gravel ranger's road that is easily hiked. Hike along this road east toward the rim of the West Bluff. You will hit the junction with the West Bluff Trail just above Lost Face and Great Chimney. Featured Route For West Bluff - West Rampart
Tardis 5.10b/c WI : Devil's Lake : ... : Dead Tree Wall
Not to be missed! 10 Ft. right of Dead Tree Route. Crux is the first 15 feet- a thin tips crack with tricky smears for the feet on left and toe in crack scum on the right. Stab for jug above. Excellent pro abounds. Then follow very interesting crack and edges line to top. There is a second and mid way crux when making move from large flake on left up to cool mantle ledge. Upper moves are stellar as well and the whole thing is OK protected.....[more] Browse More Classics in WI
