Dasha Lymar on Ramses II, Poison Ivy Wall

Description

Part of the West Terrace group of rocks, the next level below Bird-Foot Buttress, and the level above White Wall. Poison Ivy Wall might be called the "Wall of Moderates" as there are easily ten routes in the 5.6-5.8 range here. The two test pieces, "Under the Bottle" and "Say Cheese" are worth a look if you are in the area for "American Dream Roof." Ironically, we found a little virginia creeper but no poison ivy here.

Getting There

Either locate the "American Dream Roof" area from above, and walk 20 yards downhill, or come up through the other rocks below. For the latter, from the CCC lot, walk down the road until you are nearly at the quarry entrance, walk back through the woods to the base of the boulder field, and cross the lower boulder field and follow the left edge of the upper part of the boulder field. Enter the West Terrace group of rocks somewhere around Juniper Wall, skirt under Juniper and White Walls, and scramble up to PI Wall at about the Lost Arrow.

Peter Arndt's photos, taken in spring before the trees leaved out, show this area well (from the main Devils Lake page):

At Birdfoot Buttress you can see the top of this wall, I suggest the top down approach.

A few, ok, easier short routes on this wall typical of this area of buttress'. Also, check out "Under the Bottle" good 5.11a.
