I'm getting laid off on February 20th and plan to spend most of my time outdoors while I have the chance. Although I'll be developing a local crag a lot during my time of freedom, I'd like to go bag a big peak or just hike somewhere in the high country. I'm thinking of something like Shasta, Hood or Lassen but I'm definitely not opposed to smaller, lesser traveled areas, it doesn't even really have to be a peak, could just be a cool out of the way spot. Anybody have any ideas preferably within a day drive of Tahoe?

Do you ice climb?

Dang, missed your post a couple days ago. No...No ice climbing...those people are crazy...
Actually, I just never wanted to shell out the dough while living in CA, I don't even think we have any ice to climb...do we?

I'm thinking I might just do some adventure hiking/climbing off of HWY 88...depends on how stormy it gets I suppose.

Woohoo, I'm almost laid off...I think I get to leave early tomorrow. 8 years of Office Space is enough!
Woodford's Canyon would be nice, but I think I'm going to stick more on the West Side, there is some cool rock formation off of Mud Lake Road that I want to go check out, although it may not be that great if it's covered with snow. Some fairly easy to access stuff out by Bear Reservoir too.

are you gonna take the fax machine with you?

haha, I'd love to throw that f'n thing off a cliff to signify my departure. Also been debating the scene from Half Baked "F you, F you, you're cool, F you, I'm out!"

And just to keep this climbing related...this area around Bear Reservoir looks sweet.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
