Description
Windy Peak is a prominent peak at the east end of the Pasayten Wilderness. The regular route is a 3rd class scramble up the South or North ridges (or a 2nd class hike up the West slope), but there are some potentially interesting couloirs on the east side of the north ridge, as well as some fine looking rock on the NE face, and some long south facing slabs nearby, just east of Windy Lake.
Getting There
From Iron Gate Trailhead via Sunny Pass in the east, or the Windy Peak Trail near Long Swamp TH in the south, or up the Windy Creek Trail to the SW.
From Iron Gate to Windy Lake is about 8 mile on the trail (with about 2500' vertical gain) - the most challenging part is the last 6 miles drive in to Iron Gate trailhead...
