I don't get it. Why do people always want to justify to themselves and others why they climb? I can't think of any other hobbies/sports/lifestyles where people continuously question and justify why they do it. Nobody had existential discussions about why they play volleyball in the park or why they love paintball or blowjobs or any other meaningless diversion.

Agreed. Everytime I see this topic I start to cringe. It's the same with "Who are your favorite climbing heros?" & "Someone took my draws."

All the answers are the same:
1) My hero is some old trad F#%ker that no one gives a rats a$$ about and I'm pretty sure most of jokers on this site have no idea who that person really is.
2) Well you shouldn't leave your crap laying around for people to take. Oh yeah, well you're a noob and shouldn't even be a part of this conversation because I climb 13a choss piles in Clear Creek Canyon and I'm much better than you!
3) I love climbing for the pursuit of mind and body and it makes me feel funny in the pants.

Who cares why you climb just go climbing and stop trying to figure out why you do anything.

“Today a young man on acid realized that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, that we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves. Here's Tom with the Weather.”

Because I can only spend so many hours a day masturbating on MP before I have to do something else.
Oh, and climbing is as equally trivial and meaningless as all the other diversions out there.
