Other than MP, I've been using "Best Climbs Joshua Tree National Park" by Gaines, the suggestions and photos are good and it's not too large. I''ll be buying "Joshua Tree Rock Climbs" by Miramontes. I browsed through last time I was at Nomads, and it was very thorough with a lot of great shots of routes. A new edition came out earlier this year.

I was very happy with The Trad Guide to Joshua Tree: 60 Favorite Climbs from 5.5 to 5.9 when I first started climbing there.

Now I really like Joshua Tree: A Color Guide to the 2600 Best Rock Climbs and Boulder Problems :

Or just use Mountain Project's search feature and make your own guide :

LOL! After your last thread, my advice is to buy whatever you want.

I think the book CodyP is looking for is called "Classic Cruises of Joshua Tree National Park, 1001 traditional climbs from 5.10 to 5.16."
Somebody write it.

I don't normally recommend select guide books, but it can be confusing to sort through the thousands of climbs that are spread throughout the park.

Randy Vogel's Classic Rock Climbs JTNP kept me fed for a long time before I started looking into the more obscure routes. My only complaint is that it doesn't have the best maps for navigating around the Wonderland of Rocks.

+1 for this book. It is truly a wealth of info. And at only 60 climbs, it feels like something one can realistically accomplish. The book even provides a nifty way to tick off each climb. Overall, one of the best climbing guides I've seen, for JTree or any area.

Combine it with Joshua Tree Rock Climbs and you're pretty good.

This book is great, but is of little use to a new leader, looking to onsight 5.10 and up.

Most guidebooks offer a selection of climbs of various grades. I'm afraid that the OP will be offended and start yelling at any guidebook that dares to present the possibility of routes easier than 5.10 in its pages.

That is some funny stuff!

I think the OP wants "Best 5.10 Climbs in Joshua Tree for the New Leader." It's a very thin book. And hasn't been published yet.
