Description Suggest change

Shady in the morning, sunny in the afternoon. Somewhat south facing. We had good sun in early April. Lots of castle-going gawkers taking pictures of you all day long.

Getting There Suggest change

When walking up the main trail, this is the first main section you come to.

There are two main sections of this wall that I'll be combining for simplicity's sake:

Lower Westwand (also called Sudwestwand):

This is the slabbier section leading up to the more overhanging upper section.

Once you've approached the wall as much as possible on the main trail, take a small climber's access trail up right for about 15 meters, then back left.

Upper Westwand:

Continue on the climber's access trail past all the very intriguing looking climbs right in front of you on up the hill. The Upper Westwand starts where the top of the first pitch of the Lower Westwand climbs end - or about 30 meters vertical above the Lower Westwand
