Description
Don't over look rock climbing in West Kentucky!
Climbing in Western KY is varied and spread out, but has a lot to offer.
Clifty Hollow hosts a lot of boulder problems and endless variations, and maybe the best problem in western Kentucky, Werewolf. Hunter Bluff has some classic routes and test-pieces with some exciting ownership changes possibly happening soon (Hunter Bluff is still CLOSED). For those looking to get off the deck, check out the two-pitch Hawkwind at Dismal Rock, bolted in 2019. Climbing is allowed with the Pennyrile State Forest, but not in the State Park,.
There is a lot of unique climbing history to Western KY. John Gill even visited the Pennyrile.
Please make sure to verify land ownership and access to the more smaller areas!
The West Kentucky Climbers Coalition (WKCC) has recently formed and will have all the important climbing information for the area. Please find and follow the West Kentucky Rock Climbing FB page. Some great things are happening for WKY rock climbing!
