Description

So named because of the elderly gentleman that lives in the area who used to be the Ambassador of Zimbabwe.
Great collection of different 5.10 and 5.11 climbs. This area is frequently used as a place to throw down a bunch of TRs and get a workout, and not as a lead climbing destination.
The NRG's first sport climb is here, The Bolting Blowfish (5.12b) this crimpy climb won't leave you wondering why it was bolted.

Getting There

Park on left just before road from Visitor's Center comes down and joins State Road 82 (road that goes under the NRG bridge)

Pulling the crux. The marginal quality of the photo will have to suffice until I get a chance to take a better one.

Dragon in Your Dreams 5.11c 6c+ 24 VIII- E4 6a  WV : The New River Gorge : ... : Ambassador Buttress
Start on a small block left of the first bolt and climb up and right following crimps and pockets to the first bolt. Angle left to the second bolt and then immediately back right towards the anchors. This route meanders a bit, but with the general directions given above it's not too hard to find the path of least resistance. Climbing is mostly vertical with some slightly steep sections. Be ready for bigger moves on crimps and pockets....[more]   Browse More Classics in WV
