To the weak and misguided soul who chopped the belay station and painted a swastika on the rock at Limbo Rock in Vedauwoo:

It's sad that you are so broken and insecure. It is also sad that your stupidity allowed you to deface my home crag-a wonderful place we all enjoy. Your message of hatred, no matter how pathetic, has been heard. It doesn't point me to a legit viewpoint; it only emphasizes your lack of maturity and your ignorance. I'd like to have an opportunity to discuss your antisemitic viewpoint and your destructive action in person. Reply to me if you can muster some modicum of courage. If not, you will have confirmed my assumptions about your character as you run away from your responsibility.

In a zoo in California, a mother tiger gave birth to a rare set of triplet tiger cubs. Unfortunately, due to complications in the pregnancy, the cubs were born prematurely and due to their tiny size, they died shortly after birth.

The mother tiger after recovering from the delivery, suddenly started to decline in health, although physically she was fine. The veterinarians felt that the loss of her litter had caused the tigress to fall into a depression. The doctors decided that if the tigress could surrogate another mother's cubs, perhaps she would improve.

After checking with many other zoos across the country, the depressing news was that there were no tiger cubs of the right age to introduce to the mourning mother. The veterinarians decided to try something that had never been tried in a zoo environment. Sometimes a mother of one species will take on the care of a different species. The only "orphans" that could be found quickly, were a litter of weaner pigs. The zoo keepers and vets wrapped the piglets in tiger skin and placed the babies around the mother tiger.
I've never been to Vedauwoo. Is the belay station accessible to non-climbers?

Me and the offspring walking back to the car after a day of cragging.

My buddies didn't die face down in the mud so you could chop bolts and spraypaint swastikas.

I'll take "things I'd give my left arm to bang" for $400, Alex

The irony that I read this just after posting a bolt chopping thread and mentioning Nazis is utterly hilarious to me.

We really don't have a lot of variety happening on the site, do we?

For what it's worth, I would have posted a celtic cross to throw the Irish under the bus. And replaced the bolts with knifeblades for later free climbing.

I see dumb people...

Any graffiti on rock is wrong. I wish all would respect the environment. With that said I doubt any climbers did such a horrible act. I go to the Voo a lot and have noticed loads of trash, glass and graffiti all over. Especially at the primitive camp sites. Again I seriously doubt this is from climbers...........

Southern Wyoming is kind of a pit, so I don't find that totally suprising. It's the only place I've seen swastikas and white power written on a bathroom wall. I didn't know people did that anymore.

Glenn- You could probably start the WY v. CO thread elsewhere, maybe one of the forums unrelated to climbing.

BretWith1T- I agree with PrincessMia, it seems as though people have been thoroughly trashing the dispersed sites more and more. The sites near End of the Road, along Vedauwoo Rd, and down near Devil's Playground are frequently covered with debris and generally trashed. The lot near Beer Crack looks like it was defiled as of late. Graffiti popped up on some boulders at the Nautilus last year and that parking lot has been in littered with shit this season, too.

I recently read about the Broken Windows theory (link here), an idea that accepting certain things as norms, like accepting the current state of Vedauwoo, begets further abuses.

Whether you agree with the theory or not, maybe it would take an effort from some locals taking care of the place to effect a change. Maybe not, I don't know. At least it would look better. I wouldn't mind meeting up with some folks to do a cleanup.
