Description

This wall gets sun until about 2:00 in Feb, a little earlier than Love Shack. Wait for calm seas for this approach because the wet sloping black rock at the foot of the wall is slippery and getting sucked into the ocean would probably kill you, but only after using the shore as a cheese grater first.

This is a moderate wall with mostly 10's and if you do the short versions of the climbs, some 5.8s are in there as well. There are no 5.11's but 2 5.12's of marginal quality. A great setting and the blowhole on the hike in makes for an added bonus.

Getting There

Take the south road all the way to the east end. Park and walk the beach past the Orange Cave, past a really cool blowhole to increasingly sharp ironshore. After about 20 minutes you'll reach the wall and the crux of the hike. If the black rock is wet from crashing waves, consider climbing at Orange cave. In either case take your time getting across the sloping base.

Wave Wall tower...pretty cool.

Obvious 60 ft tower on the hike in to the Wave Wall. I soloed up the north side of the tower. The rock is quite sharp. I would imagine that this has been climbed before. Small consolation prize if the surf is too high to get into the Wave Wall proper....[more]   Browse More Classics in International
