High camp at about 7,000 feet.

Description

One of the easy volcano routes of the Northwest.
Great scenery and fun glacier walking.
Check out this trip report

Location

Start at the Coleman/Heliotrope Ridge trailhead at 3,700 feet. Hike along the trail until you reach an intersection at about 5,400 feet. Turn right and climb up steep meadows and moraines until you reach the main high camp at 6,000 feet. You can continue up the western lobe of the Coleman glacier and camp at Heliotrope Ridge as well, about 7,000 feet. 5-7 hours from the road. Climb the Coleman Glacier until you reach the ridge separating the Coleman glacier and the Deming glacier. Hike the ridge until you can get on the steep snow slopes leading toward the summit.
Descend the same route.

Protection

Bring snow pickets and crevasse rescue gear.
