Well here is your chance to get some good karma, help restore some of the last of the remaining flood damaged trails, and get that trail opened!
Where: Royal Arch Trail - Flatirons - Boulder, CO When: Weekdays through the end of Oct Hosted by: the Boulder Climbing Community's Front Range Climbing Stewards
Back in September, 2013 the Front Range experienced a "1,000-year rain event", causing some of the most intense flooding this region has ever seen. Roads were completely washed away and communities entirely isolated. Our local trails and climbing accesses weren't spared either.
The Royal Arch Trail, one of the Flatirons most historic and iconic trails was one of these heavily hit trails. Boulder Open Space & Mountain Parks (OSMP) quickly closed the trail for immediate safety concerns as a major portion of the trail had been completely blown out.
After completing some heroic improvements to the Darkness 'til Dawn area in Eldorado Canyon and proving their ability to work in difficult terrain on highly technical projects, the Front Range Climbing Stewards (FRCS) have been requested to get this trail opened for the Boulder community. Its been a long time coming and the FRCS would love your help!
The FRCS have been hard at work and will continue working on the Royal Arch Trail through the end of October and are accepting volunteers almost any day they're out there. Come give a hand if you have a free day in the few weeks!
