The fee area will close tomorrow (Thursday), according to signs posted at all the pay stations today. The reason given for the closure was "lack of funding."
My understanding of the shutdown is that only federal lands with gated access and fee assessment are off limits. National parks are closed, BLM and National Forest land with fee access (like the loop road in Red Rocks...and the fee area of Vedauwoo) are off limits. Other BLM and National Forest land is still fair game. I could be wrong, but that's how I understand it. I don't think you can hike or bike into "closed" areas either...probably considered trespassing.

Go to the Woo, and climb like normal. Park out in the dirt, and walk wherever. No one ever cares up there. It is kind of a free for all. And if you didn't want to trespass, there is probably 500 legal routes to do.
