Valdez

Description

This area encompasses the Valdez and Thompson Pass rock climbing areas. The rock tends to be a little chossy, but the scenery is unbeatable. The majority of the climbing is in the Thompson Pass area, but there is a little to be found in Valdez itself. If you are coming to town bring your gear for a great day out on the rocks.

Getting There

From Anchorage take highway 1 to Glennallen then take highway 4 to Valdez.

There is an enjoyable variation that breaks left to the anchor of Karen's Crack. Make sure to bring a couple runners for this. ...[more]   Browse More Classics in AK
