Description

This canyon is home of the ice climb, Frozen Assets. You can see it looking East, high on the steep North facing limestone wall while driving South on Interstate 15 as you approach Mt. Nebo.

Getting There

Take the Mona exit just before Mt. Nebo. Go west to Mona. Turn right and follow a frontage road going north. Turn east on a dirt road leading past a quarry. Follow a the road to the mouth of the Canyon.

North Canyon Lane goes right past the gravel pit, right to the mouth of the canyon. Just don't drive through any of the gravel pit gates...go straight up to the trail head.<br />(Google Earth photo)

I am curious what the camping situation is in North Creek? If anyone has any info I would appreciate it.

No established camping at all. Just a narrow dirt road to a dead end where the canyon starts. 10 miles up Nephi Canyon is Ponderosa and Bear Canyon Campgrounds though.

Thanks.

I am not really interested in established camping as much as just a place to throw down for the night. Is camping in North Creek or at the trailhead allowed?

Dispersed (undeveloped) camping is allowed by the road on the National Forest land (per forest ranger at SF Ranger Station). There is a small barricade at the end of the dirt road indicating the start of the Mt Nebo Wilderness boundary. Camping is also allowed in the wilderness following normal wilderness rules.

Thanks again John.

There are a couple good car camping spots on the left where the road splits a few hundred yards before the dead end. What a beautiful place with an amazing amount of rock.
