Joe Ballent exploring Wasp King.

Description

A big boulder hanging out into the Colorado River. This provides an interesting opportunity for deep-water climbing. The downstream face is much safer as you climb at an incline, falling straight to the water. The upstream face declines, so a fall would result in some serious skinned knees at the very least.

Getting There

Take Potash Road past all of the Wall Street classics. After driving about 15 minutes from the main road you'll see a sign for the petroglyphs on your left. There's also a clearing on the shoulder of the road for parking. Easily visible is the boulder. A thirty second walk and another thirty second swim (depending on the river level) will have you climbing.
