Using "NOAA's Snow 3d Interface" for checking snow conditions

I've been using these "Snow Analysis 3d Interface overlays" in Google Earth for awhile now with mixed opinions. They are super cool for sure and very informative, but when comparing to actual conditions sometimes it has helped, and other times it hasn't.

Curious if some of you have used it and what your thoughts were. If it was integral in planning your early season trips to avoid snow, or if its just something cool you show your friends.
