Peter Jeffris left his dark green Jeep Wrangler at the Long's Peak Ranger Station, 11/16 around 8am. He was presumably headed up the Cable Route. If anyone was on the trail that day and saw a tall 26 year old white kid, please email me: rufusjmiller@yahoo.com. Thanks.

Authorities are all on task. They searched today, but came up empty. Just trying to see if anyone saw Peter on any part of the trail. Any info can help us pinpoint where to look.

Sorry some seem so condescending on mp. Good luck to your friend. I hope he's found soon.

Hey mike you still thinking of heading up today to take a look around?

3 search teams are on the mountain right now. Heading up to cables and Chasm Lake area. Wind and blowing snow are an issue. Still looking for sightings of Peter on Sunday. Thanks for everyone's support. Hope for the best.

going to search on your own is not recommended. If you do go up there to look, you need to DOCUMENT where you looked and where you didnt. ie, if you went down a creek did you cover both sides, one side, next to the creek in the willows or further away.

Searches are about finding clues. The subject is a really awesome clue. if you are not looking for clues you arent really helping.

Speaking of searching areas and documenting what and where you searched, a possible area of concern could be the bridge over the river. This also might be overlooked as it is so low in respect to the entire mountain. A slip there, by yourself, could be worrying. Best of Luck to the climber and the search teams.

Oh no. That's terrible news. Does anyone know if he was at all equipped to hunker down and survive the temps? Would he have take a belay parka maybe, or so,e sort of fire starting tools?

To add to this, heading up Glacier Gorge this weekend we saw a lot of parties walking directly across Mills Lake. Being a bit more risk averse, I scraped the snow off the "ice" and took an ice tool to what was below. It amount to about 2.5 inches of slush. It would be very easy to try and cross a thinner spot at the wrong time of day and easily punch through.

You said he was headed up the Cables route and there are no lakes to cross on the Long's trailhead, unless he decided to go across Chasm. My point is it's just a weird time of year because things may appear more "wintery" than they actually are creating additional hazards one wouldn't normally think were dangerous.

I hope he turns up. My thoughts are with him as well as his friends and family.

rest assured Rocky Mountain Rescue and Larimer County SAR are both top notch, and very experienced outdoors people and search personnel. They will cover all bases.

If they need more manpower they will call CSRB and ask for SAR members from other counties/teams. Hoping for the best

Good point Birdman. Also, if anyone is serious about forming a search party, be sure to notify the Rangers so you are not covering ground that has already been covered. It would be a shame to waste what seems like precious time. Bring your beacon too. Don't know the conditions up there but, steep slopes, recent snow and wind is concerning for someone that may have possibly taken a board or skis up there.

Tenpins comment is precisely correct. Plenty of highly qualified and experienced people already on the job.

I was playing in Long's / Meeker cirque the day it happened. Saw his jeep, but never encountered nor saw anyone. Explored heavily chasm lake area, peacock pools, Mt. Lady Washington, and battle mountain. Thoughts go out to the young man.

Any word on this kid?

Ugh, as the hours pass these stories always suck. Hopefully, this kid gets lucky and gets found. Long's can be a terrible place in nasty weather... Praying for his safety!

I just read that his body was located and removed from about 200 ft below the Ledges on the Keyhole Route this afternoon.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
