Greetings,

Am planning a ten day trip to SF and would like to get out and boulder. I 'll be without a car, anything accessible by the BART? Indian Rock ? Glen Canyon? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Indian Rock is about 1.5 miles away from Downtown Berkeley BART. I'd highly suggest checking it out. There are also a few other spots within a decent walking distance; Mortar Rock is right up the street, but there's also Grizzly Peak, Grotto Rock Park, and Remillard Park (which has a nice offwidth I'm looking forward to hitting). It'll definitely be a day adventure if you end up hitting these spots on foot, but you'd meet some cool locals.

Thanks for the reply. Is it easy to locate? What's the beta for getting there from the BART ?

If you're willing to adventure onto other public transportation, you might spend a day getting up to Stinson Beach, or even bouldering near Mickey's Beach. Not urban, but maybe that's a good thing?

Get off downtown BART and head due north on Shattuck for 1.8 miles. Basically walk up Shattuck until you hit a short, steep hill, take the stairs up, and go across the traffic cirle. Go on to Indian Rock Rd, head uphill and you'll see it on your left. There's a big sign that says "Indian Rock," you can't miss it. Mortar Rock is just a few 100 feet north of Indian Rock.

At this point you'll probably want to use your phone, or pick someone elses brain for the other rock parks... I haven't walked to them from Indian Rock, yet.
